National Trail Mix Day Giveaway

We made it to Florida! The flight wasn't too bad. I tossed and turned a bit, but probably got about 3.2 hours of sleep <- that's good for plane sleep.

My Survive a Red Eye Flight tricks:

1. Take a melatonin or have a glass of wine at the airport. Check.

2. Wear ear plugs and an eye mask.IMG_7178 (600x800) I forgot my eye mask in Florida when we flew out or Christmas so I had to improvise with this running head band I got from Stephanie in Vegas!

3. Bring a pillow to get comfy.

4. Bring a sweatshirt and socks to stay warm. <- This wasn't enough though and Ben was freezing. We couldn't even buy a blanket because they ran out Sad smileIMG_7173 (800x600)IMG_7168 (600x800)

As we get to Florida the Republican National Convention is leaving… so I don't get to see Toby McGuire in person. I mean, the VP nominee. IMG_7180

Ben's parents picked us up as the sun rose. IMG_7181

And we made the usual stop to Cracker Barrel– this is part of our routine now.IMG_7188

Even though we're 3 hours behind I was HUNGRY. I ordered egg beaters and toast and stole 1/4 of my mother-in-laws massive pancake.IMG_7185

They already have the Halloween candy and decorations out! I have to admit I'm excited for Fall. It's been hot in SoCal and I have a pumpkin growing (<- not in my belly).IMG_7187

When we got to the house we were greeted by the turtle that won't leave. It seems like he wants to cross the creek, but keeps getting stuck by the fence. They keep trying to help him, but he keeps going to the dead end.IMG_7193

After a quick 20 minute nap (not nearly enough!) I worked. Even though I'm out here I'm still working today. That's the bad thing about working from home – you can work on vacation.IMG_7208

Lunch break! Ben's mom makes the most amazing chicken salad with mayo, grapes, cashews and cranberries. It's to die for. I enjoyed some on top of a salad with a side of PB&J toast. I'm still pretty hungry today and breakfast was light (for me anyways)!IMG_7197

Enjoyed with the boys…IMG_7199

Since Florida is seriously lacking in Trader Joe's we brought a bunch of TJ's goodies – Mint Espresso Beans, Dark Chocolate Pistachio Toffee <- the best!, Dark Chocolate covered espresso beans, sesame almonds and more. I had a piece of the toffee. Amazing.IMG_7201

And I finally met the new baby!!! She's 4 months old now and I missed her when I had to skip our annual Florida trip in June. IMG_7202

Red Eye to Tampa

I've been researching foods to eat and avoid for low thyroid issues and read that processed soy (among other things) can sometimes affect thyroid function.  Well, I was eating processed soy in the form of veggie burgers every.single.day.

So, today I changed it up with Bumble Bee's Spicy Thai Tuna.IMG_7149 (800x600)

I put it in my usual salad with TJ's peanut dressing and it totally worked!IMG_7151 (800x600)

Plus a tragic looking cookie for dessert SmileIMG_7155 (800x600)

I had grand plans to do Gym Run, Tan, Laundry today before we left, but it was a #Fail.

I normally get a spray tan before I go to Florida (you know, so I'll fit in with the locals) but I ran out of time. At least I got the laundry done…IMG_7157 (800x600)

I guess this morning's 9 miler caught up with me fast because I was Rungry all day! I had lunch early and around 2:30pm wanted a "real meal" not just a snack. So, I cooked up last night's chicken sausage/broccoli leftovers with eggs.IMG_7159 (800x600)

After work I packed super fast and headed to my mom's. They are watching Vegas for us and drove us to the airport. Unfortunately we're flying out of LAX, which is practically as far as driving half way to Florida!

I said "hello!" to my growing pumpkin! I'm so so excited for this!IMG_7162 (800x600)

And after my naked-scanner-opt-out-pat-down-extravaganza I'm sitting at the gate waiting for my flight to board. I have a little snack to keep me company.IMG_7164 (800x600)

This is a Red Eye with a quick layover – ugh, I always regret red eyes when I get to my destination but it's the best use of time. I'm really going to try to sleep through the flight, but if I can't I have some reading material. (Cross your fingers that I sleep though!)IMG_7166 (800x600)

See you soon Dunkin Donuts!!!IMG_4638 (600x800)

Question: Can you sleep on a plane? Thoughts on Red Eyes?

I'm going to be jacked up when I get to Florida, but I'm excited to see my in-laws and new niece!!!
