Sephora Sucker

You know what happens when you aren’t dropping clothes sizes and are breaking out with teenage-reminiscent cystic acne? You run to Sephora, where everything promises to make you look shiny and new, and nothing will be too tight. These days, I liken Sephora to the Hello Kitty stores when I was 8. It all screams at you to touch it and love it. You want EVERYTHING and can’t possibly choose.

  1. Clarisonic Mia 2: I’ve contemplated a Clarisonic for over 14 months now. I have friends who rave about them and I just thought that it surely must be a gimmick. I mean, can’t you just scrub your face with the same results? After one of my worst acne breakouts yet (I get the awful cystic kind that doesn’t go away and is painful to the touch), I decided to just bite the bullet and try it. I’m hoping it will also help with my blackheads, which I swear could probably be mistaken for freckles some days; and also help with just overall tone of my skin. It’s red in areas and is oily. Sephora has a 60 day return window, so if I don’t get great results, I’ll return it for a refund.
  2. Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat: This clicky-stick is the number one selling beauty product ever, and I am finally curious enough to try it. It’s a luminizer, but it’s filed under the Sephora category of “concealer” although it doesn’t really conceal. The purpose is to make you look awake, by brightening up under eye circles, in the inside corners of the eyes, and even on cheekbones or around the nose area.
  3. NARS Eyeshadow Duo in Habanera: I am a little burned out on my current eyeshadow routine, so thought this duo would be a fun try. It’s got a pale green and a deep purple. Nars is knowing for having highly pigmented eyeshadow, and man were they right! I’m used to having to really throw tons of light eyeshadow on for any sort of effect, but one super light swoop of this pale green and it’s stuck on my face. Lasts all day too. Still trying to figure out the best way to wear the duo, but this YouTube video looks interesting.

What are your favorites from Sephora? Any experience with these products?
