| Garmin 210: A Runner’s Best Friend Posted: 24 Jul 2012 07:14 PM PDT For months, I had been using an app on my bulky iPhone to track the distance of my runs. However, my trusty iPhone always had technical problems. I just felt like I was wasting too much time tying to making adjustments during my run. I was dying to purchase a running watch that would help make my sometimes painful runs just a tad easier. After thorough research (and asking many other bloggers a lot of detailed questions), I decided that my best option was the Garmin Forerunner 210. The Forerunner 210 uses GPS to track indoor and outdoor speed, distance and average pace. And it has an interval training function that lets you see the pace for each interval. The forerunner really had everything I was looking for in a watch. I patiently waited (for the right price and time), and I finally got my new watch a few weeks ago (thanks mom, dad and Amy). I’m already thrilled about how well it functions and keeps me on track! Tonight, I ran outside on streets that I don’t really know, but I challenged myself to keep going and pick up my pace! I relied on my forerunner (and myself) to stay motivated and to provide simple, accurate and clear information. My run was only about 4.5 miles, but it was on relatively hilly roads and I never stopped running! My next splurge might be the optional chest strap so that my heart rate and calories burned can also be displayed. Also, I have to say that I seriously think Garmin should offer their watches in pink! Wouldn’t that be fun? Do you have a running watch? If so, what kind? Today: 4.5 miles. |
