Weekend Fun: Markets & Gardens

Since I’ve been back in New Zealand life has been pretty chill. It’s been awesome to let the stress of the last couple months fade away. Sure there is still the looming stress of immigration, helping my mom out however I can and other things, but it doesn’t feel as pressing. I can just relax. It helps that I now have regular stress relief in the form of daily walks with my JuJu puppy.

Beyond working and walking there has been a lot of other things happening this past weekend.

Like eating kale from my kale plant that has survived!

It is the last one from the ones I planted originally, it survived the JuJu attack that killed all it’s siblings and is now providing a tiny amount of kale (I need to wait but I got so excited I took a few leaves on Friday).

Saturday night we went to the Auckland Night Market to explore and grab dinner. My favorite find of the night was the sign at my favorite dumpling food stall.

Sunday morning we went to the Clevedon Village Farmer’s Market. Can you tell that I like markets? There is something about the crowds and the food and the music and the environment that I just love, even on a brisk winter morning.

I did have a purpose for attending that market though! I went to visit Clevedon Herbs & Produce to buy some more plants.

Those plants I bought were all part of my plan to create a little garden in our backyard. But because JuJu likes to eat plants (and grass and paper and toys and everything) we had to get creative. The result was this awesome hanging container garden!

Thanks to Kepa for the help on this one. I did the gardening and he did the hanging – team work! I will post more about the garden later in detail but I’m really excited about it and I’m hoping it survives.

All in all it was a really relaxed weekend hanging out with my puppy and husband. Which is of course exactly what I needed!
