A Merry Life

Let me make you a short list of things that are bad for weight loss:

not exercising
beer
fried foods
alcohol
more alcohol
salt
Denny’s at 2 am

Unfortunately that list sums up my activiites for the weekend. (Good thing it was fun!)

Needless to say, I know I’m not going to see a great number on the scale this week. I’m kind of dreading it tomorrow to be honest. I know it’s temporary but it feels like a major bump in the progress of weight loss.

I’ve been doing so well (in my weight loss terms) lately and I hate that I did things to slow that down. I don’t lose weight very fast to begin with so stopping it temporarily with bad behaviors and food choices is a silly idea.

I almost feel like I should go hardcore with no drinks and no eating out for a while. But at the same time… it’s my last month in New Zealand! I’m moving away and some friends are moving away and it’s likely I’ll not see some of these lovely people for a couple years (which makes me so sad). I am battling the desire for weight loss with the desire to live it up as much as possible while I still can.

But even though I want to do ALL THE FUN THINGS, I’m still more committed to weight loss in the long run. That’s why even though I indulged during the weekend I still tried to be smart by limiting portions via sharing my food, drinking water in between drinks, and walking a lot despite no formal exercise. Weight loss is still in the back of my mind during everything right now, which is good because not having the right mentality is the worst thing for weight loss.

So that’s where I’m at this week. Trying to find the balance between the things that are bad for weight loss and the desire to really make this happen. Balance, balance.
