Running, Music and Roads

Tonight I was home by 5:30 p.m., which is rather shocking!

It was a BEAUTIFUL day. The weather was in the mid-80′s, it was cheerfully sunny and the air was clear. Instead of driving to the gym I went home and ran 3.5 miles to the gym, did a few ab and arm machines and then I ran 3.5 miles back home again.

I found this size 14 skirt while cleaning out my closet. You can't really tell, but it's so big it would fall to the floor without me holding it up!

I’m so happy I broke up by boring treadmill (during the week) routine!

Of course, I had my trusty Garmin, and I used my iPod to play some awesome music.

Because I knew I was running on main roads, at a busy time of the day, I was worried about wearing my headphones and not hearing the traffic. Instead, I turned on my tunes and let them play out loud from my iPhone, which was strapped to my wrist.

Personally, I think my idea worked out perfectly.

I was able to enjoy my playlist and I was still alert and focused while I sprinted along a few busy streets.

My volume was soft, so I don’t think it bothered anyone (if they could even hear it), and I was listening to Country music so (hopefully) I wasn’t broadcasting any embarrassing or offensive lyrics.

Now all I need to do is run with my prescription sunglass and/or glasses. Then I’ll be able to see clearly and I’ll be totally aware of traffic!

What’s the rule on running and music?

Is it okay to softly play music from my iPhone? Does everyone else just wear headphones?

Today: 7 miles.
Weekly: 18.5 miles.
Yearly: 400.22 miles (I’m over 400 miles, what an accomplishment)!
