5 Ways to Trim Down During Pregnancy

Hi ,

Did you know that most pregnant women experience some kind of swelling, or edema during pregnancy?

Although it is natural for your body to retain some water during pregnancy, swelling is NOT something to be taken lightly, so do make sure you go for regular medical checkups.

Assuming that everything is normal, here are 5 TIPS to Help YOU Look Trim:

1. Make sure you rest and elevate your feet regularly throughout the day (NEVER cross your legs because it will cause swelling).

2. Avoid standing for long periods of time or wearing any tight clothing around your legs as this will cut off your circulation.

3. Drink lots of water. Aim for 8-10 glasses a day and try adding a bit of lemon to increase the absorption of water and decrease bloating.

4. Eat a healthy, assortment of food, in regular intervals throughout the day. Keep your servings small, consisting of at least 3 out of the 4 food groups (3 meal rule), rich in color and high in fibre.

5. And last, but not least, keep active - exercise is the best thing that you can do to stay trim during pregnancy (plus it'll give you the best chance of losing all of your baby weight and taking it off quickly post-pregnancy)!

To get you started, try brisk walking or my personal favorite swimming (just remember to always be sure to get your Health Care Provider’s OK before doing any type of exercise).
